The meaning of Climate Action
The meaning of climate action:
The meaning of climate action lies in the reduction of human misuse of their planet, which has led to dire consequences. Natural disasters have resulted in approximately 1.3 million human losses. And caused huge economic losses amounting to 3 trillion dollars.
And animal losses as well. In Australia, kangaroos die due to the loss of their original habitat due to fires. In the Amazon rainforest, we see images of fires that have killed hundreds of millions of trees and plants so that the area described as “the lungs of the earth” becomes one of the largest sources of pollution.
These natural disasters point to the bitter reality that our climate is changing because of us, with dire consequences for humanity and the world's biodiversity.
So, we must correct our behavior towards the environment and work to preserve the only source of human prosperity.
Why is the thirteenth goal important?
First: Because it supports and is linked to the rest of the goals if it is to eradicate poverty, improve livelihoods, enhance prosperity, and bequeath a healthy, functioning world to the next generation. He must ensure a permanent biological environment. Governments and society in general have recognized this basic relationship.
Therefore, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals included Goal 13: “Take urgent action to address climate change and its impacts". (UN Chronicle n.d).
Countries are starting to take the target seriously. The United Nations Convention on Climate Change convened to draft a new global agreement by December 2015 in Paris at the United Nations conference to address the threat of climate change while seizing the opportunity to combat it.
