Local organizations that cooperated in climate action
Examples of Saudi organizations that cooperated in climate action SDG.
Aramco was one of the Saudi companies that cooperated in the climate action SDG.
According to Climate Change | Aramco (2020), the Company’s environmental commitments are underpinned by an environmental management system,
aligned to ISO 14001: 2015 standards, to manage compliance and drive environmental performance through continual improvement and an environmental master plan that provides a framework for achieving the Company’s environmental objectives.
The objectives they follow are simple yet very useful for climate action such as:
• Waste management
• Low carbon intensity
• Minimizing flaring
• Advancing local, industry, and global climate initiatives
• Non-industrial and renewable energy
A short video showing Armco's contributions to the climate action movement:
Sabic also took climate action as a material topic for their company and they contributed in many ways
Our Approach and Performance - SABIC (2019) mentions that they also shifted from coal to cleaner energy.
In 2018, they established their first strategy to procure renewable energy.
Lastly they have worked with the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a global nonprofit organization working to prevent dangerous climate change since 2013.
As a result, they achieved “overall B” from the CDP, one of the best results in the Middle East, they implemented a methanol-recovery project at their Ar-Razi affiliate, installed new-resin condensate coils at their Tampico facility, improved monitoring and efficiency of water and steam at Yanpet, and optimized consumption of potassium hydroxide at Saudi Kayan.
